shenyang research institute of chemical industry (syrici), established on january 8, 1949, is the first national comprehensive chemical research institute. during the 60 years' development, 7 national backbone chemical industry institutes have been found from syrici, such as beijing research institute of chemical industry, shanghai research institute of chemical industry, tianjin research institute of chemical industry, etc. in may 1999, through the approval of ministries and commissions directly under the state council, syrici became a large-scale scientific and technological enterprise unit directly under the central government. in april 2007, under the approval of the state council, syrici was reorganized with a fortune 500 company china "sinochem group" to be a wholly-owned subsidiary.
